The Cross is situated in the centre of the village of Copplestone, population 1,000, which is located on the A377 approximately 3 miles north of the market town of Crediton with a population of 7,000. In the last two years there has been substantial housing development in the village with over 100 houses being built. The A377 links Exeter to Barnstaple and as well as day-to-day traffic is a holiday route for tourists venturing from South to North Devon.
