DEADLINE LOOMING FOR ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATES.

From The 3rd April all Commercial buildings with a floor space larger than 10.000sq m will need a EPC, whether they are a freehold or a lease establishment. From the 1st July pubs bigger than 2,500sq m will need one, when from the 1st October all commercial businesses will require one.

Yet another expense for the business owner.

Similar to the residential HIPS, but costing anywhere between £500 to £1,000. This Certificate will have to be acquired before selling your business. This in turn will be very helpful for the purchaser but yet another expense and hassle for the vendor. In turn the energy efficient rating should not effect the price of the property but could cause problems if the government decides to introduce a tax on energy inefficient premises.

Once again yet another blow for the Licence trade as if the Smoking Ban wasn’t bad enough.
